Essential RV Gear for Full Time Living

The RV Lifestyle

The Recreational Vehicle lifestyle is like no other on the planet. You can live in the finest mansion money can buy with everything your heart desires but you wake up to the same bedroom walls and backyard fixtures.

Now, you are a full-time RVer! You wake up in the morning to the sound of the waves crashing on the shoreline, the sound of seagulls overhead, and a craving to get sand between your toes. Simply grab your coffee and go outside. You are now standing on the beach.

So the opportunity to park in the environment of your choosing is the calling we all feel and this is always exemplified in the RV Lifestyle.

Ready?
  • First Aid Kit A must-have for all types of injuries containing a strong wrap adhesive fabric and plastic bandages, antibiotic ointments, antiseptic towelettes, burn cream packets, gauze roll and pads, gloves, scissors, tweezers, and other multi-use items for any potential emergency

  • Fire Extinguishers should be placed in various areas where they are always ready

  • Survival Kit just in case

  • Basic Tool Kit Just like in your car, you must carry a good set of tools for quick fixes. If you are mechanically minded, carry tools you know how to use but keep in mind, the fixtures you enjoy at home are basically the same as those in your RV. Your fridge, range, oven, and bathroom will often be the same fixes you may already be familiar with

  • Clean Water Hose for filling your water tank; get the right length for your rig

  • Wheel Chocks and a good set of X Chocks for your tandem axle RVs

  • Black and Grey Tank Treatment and maintenance tools so you are always ready

  • Cleaning Sanitizing, and Detergents. Brooms and dust pans and window cleaner

  • Door Mats that keep most of the sand out or collect the water when the kids just got out of the ocean

  • Handy Items such as paper towel holders, shelf racks, and adhesive tape

  • Levelers If your RV doesn't have electric load levelers you may need to carry some scissor jacks or levelers of choice

  • Small Items that you will always need

  • Water Filters for your built-in systems or counter-top water containers

  • Spare Tires and Road Flares as well as supplies just like in your car, you may need safety gear for any unforeseen incidents

Electric Power

If you like, carry a generator if your rig doesn't already have a built-in genset. The main difference between Solar and Generator power is as follows:

Solar Power
The sun is always available for free energy and your RV adventures will need lots of power. From just a couple of panels to panels everywhere there is space to put them. You can run everything from your blender to your roof Air Conditioning Unit with solar power. Set up your solar system according to your needs. You can have it all! Solar rocks! Build it and use it. In time, there may be some maintenance but far from a daily routine. Solar energy is free!

Generator
you will need fuel, spare spark plugs and tools, a place to carry it, and any fuel additives you may require. Generators make noise and emit exhaust pollution

If you are far away in the desert, your Solar System will continue to provide your rig with power no matter what but your Generator will run out of fuel and leave you powerless. Did I mention… Solar Rocks!

We could go on and on making recommendations for your RV adventures but common sense will tell you what you need and what you don't need while having the time of your life in the RV of choice
